1. Each student will receive ₹12,400/-per month in scholarships under the program.

2. The qualifying student will receive an annual contingency of ₹5,000.

Note 1: Students who receive less than 60% in any given semester will be awarded a scholarship at the rate of ₹1,550/- for that semester. If the student returns for the same semester and receives more than 60%, they will be eligible for a regular scholarship at the rate of ₹12,400/- per month for that semester. However, in the ensuing semesters, once he is qualified to get the full scholarship amount.

Note 02: The scholar will get reimbursement for the authorized contingency grant based on the actual costs incurred by them for the eligible items, up to the specified maximum. At the conclusion of the program, i.e., postgraduate and research work, the scholars are required to return the books and non-consumable things they have bought or purchased with funds from the contingency grant to the respective university or institution.

Note 03: M.E., M.Tech, and M.Pharm students are not eligible to pay for housing rent.

Note 4: Throughout the scholarship period, the recipient is not permitted to take on any paid work (emoluments, salary, or stipend).

Note 5: Every postgraduate student will be required to devote eight to ten hours (per week) on teaching and research projects that have been allocated to them by the institute. This covers tutoring, lab instruction, lab creation and upkeep, support for faculty members’ research and other endeavors, computer and other central facility maintenance and operation, library assistance, etc.

Note 06: Should the scholar fail any semester, the scholarship would be immediately terminated. The University will be the one to handle this situation from an administrative standpoint. 

Eligibility Criteria for UGC’s Post Graduate Scholarship

The following requirements must be fulfilled by students in order to be eligible for the UGC Post Graduate Scholarship:

  • GATE/GPAT Eligibility: A valid score from the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) or the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is required. GPAT is for M.Pharm programs, and GATE is for M.Tech and M.E. programs.
  • Enrollment in Course: You must be accepted into a Central University, State University, Deemed University, or Private University in India for a full-time regular M.Tech, M.E., or M.Pharm program. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) ought to approve the program. Integrated dual degree courses fall under this category.

How to Apply for UGC’s Post Graduate Scholarship

Online Application Process: 

  • Once a GATE/GPAT Qualified student has been admitted, the University must submit an online claim for the first semester using the UGC online portal, which can be accessed at www.ugc.ac.in. The proforma must be filled out and submitted correctly. Additionally, the undertaking and GATE/GPAT Score Card of the M.E/M.Tech/M.Pharm within the approved intake by AICTE/UGC in the batch in a year early must be uploaded, along with the student category (General, SC & ST).
  • Note: The university or institution must additionally attest that it is solely submitting the scholarship claim to UGC and is not requesting funds from AICTE or any other source.
  • The CANARABANK UGC Portal is used to distribute the UGC Scholarship. The following lists the procedures that must be completed in order to register the scholar in the Scholar’s Corner.
  • Step 2: Click the Registration button, then accurately enter your information, including the scheme name, student ID (the ID as registered with the university through the UGC Portal), email address, and date of birth (the email address that has been registered with the university through the UGC Portal). 
  • Step 3: Click the Register Button to store the data after inputting it. The message “Registration Successful” will appear.
  • Step 4: The registered email address will receive the password. To find the password, check the registered email address.
  • Step 5: GOOGLE the following URL: https://scholarship.canarabank.in/scholar/Login.aspx, and input the password and email address you received in the mail. Enter and modify the password.
  • Step 6: To view the scholar’s profile, LOG IN again using the email address and new password after creating one.

  • How the Approval Process Works By UGC: The recipients will receive the admissible scholarship amount through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from the University Grants Commission in accordance with the claim that the University has filed.
  • Procedure for UGC Grant Release: To qualified students, UGC will award 100% of the first-semester scholarship.
  • The results of the first, second, and third semesters as well as the grant awarded for the preceding semester will be received before the scholarship for the second, third, and fourth semesters is distributed.
  • Results for next semesters must be provided in percentage form, which must be converted from CGPA in situations where students are receiving CGPA awards. 
  • In the event that the university does not offer exams during the third and fourth semesters and instead assigns students to complete projects, the university may submit satisfactory discipline-specific reports from the students.
  • There will be a 6-month cap on the semester-wise grant.
  • Following course completion, the UGC authorized agency must receive a copy of the degree that was issued.
