What is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi?
To provide financial assistance to farmers, the Central Government started PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. In which farmers are given Rs 6,000 every year. This amount is deposited in the accounts of farmers in three installments of Rs 2,000 each. The Central Government released the 16th installment of the scheme a few days ago. The benefit of this scheme is not given to all farmers.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan Samman Nidhi) is a central scheme to provide financial assistance to all landholding farmers’ families in the country to meet their financial needs for agriculture and allied activities as well as household needs. Under the scheme, the entire financial liability for transfer of benefits to the targeted beneficiaries is borne by the Government of India.

A financial incentive of Rs 6000 per family, distributed in three equal installments of Rs 2000 every four months, is provided to all landholding farmer households under the PM Kisan Yojana. The PM Kisan website states that “farmers who have enrolled with PMKISAN are required to have eKYC. Farmers can call their closest CSC centers for biometric-based eKYC, or they can use the OTP-based eKYC accessible on the PM Kisan Portal.
When can we expect to receive PM Kisan’s sixteenth installment?
It is made available every four months by the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The 16th installment is now anticipated to be released in February or March after the 15th installment was released in November. The following installment’s release date is still pending.
These farmers will not get the benefit of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
- Farmers who do not have cultivable land.
- Farmers who own institutional land.
- If the family member of the farmer applying for the scheme is an NRI.
- Those who have not attained the age of 18 years as on 01.02.2019.
- Farmers who have someone in their family holding a constitutional post.
- Farmers whose one member of the family is also taking advantage of the scheme.
- Farmers who themselves or any member of their family has been a minister at the Centre or the state in the past or is currently a minister.
- Family members or mayors of farmers’ corporations, chairpersons of district councils, current members of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha or legislature or have ever been a member in the past.
- Farmers who are or have been employees of the Central Government, State Government, Regional Office Autonomous Institution, except themselves or any member of their family who is a class IV employee.
- The applicant must have paid income tax in the last year to himself or his family.
- Applicants or their family members who are practising in any professional body such as doctors, lawyers, architects, engineers, chartered accountants, etc.
How can you apply?
All eligible land-holding farmers can apply online for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana by visiting the official website www.pmkisan.gov.in.
It is important to follow these conditions
- Farmers should have cultivable land.
- The bank account of the farmer taking advantage of the scheme must be linked to NPCI.
- Land should be frozen (before 01.02.2019).
How to check your name on the list?
- Go to the official website of PM Kisan –https://pmkisan.gov.in
- Click on the ‘Beneficiary List “tab on the right side of the page.
- Select the details from the drop-down like State, District, Sub-District, Block and Village.
- Click on the ‘Get Report’ tab.
- After this process, the list of beneficiaries will be published
How to update e-KYC online?
- Go to the official website of PM-Kisan.
- Click on the eKYC option available on the right side of the page.
- Enter the Aadhaar card number, and captcha code and click on search.
- Enter the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar card.
- Click on ‘Get OTP’ and enter the OTP in the given field.
